About Me

I have always enjoyed working with people and working through problems.

I believe that everyone is an individual who takes part in the world in their own unique and wonderful way. Our uniqueness is dependent on our experiences and values, but when some of our experiences have been unhappy or hurtful, this can have a negative effect on how we look at, and react to, different situations. This can prevent us from feeling happy. My work is to help find new ways of reacting and being which can make us happy.

I believe that we all have the power within us to make ourselves happy and this is why I decided to become a counsellor.
Before beginning my career in counselling, I worked in a variety of settings within the commercial and charitable sector. This has given me a unique understanding of the dynamics of working within a team as well as an awareness of the complex politics of working in an office environment.

Understanding my role within a team, and seeing how my reactions differed to my colleagues, gave me a desire to achieve a deeper understanding of people. I returned to education, obtained a certificate in psychology, which led me on to a postgraduate study in counselling skills and finally a Post-graduate Diploma in integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Background

Before I became a counsellor I spent over 15 years working in various roles within marketing teams, in a variety of settings and organisations.
